·----' ORANGE COUNTY <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD <br />May 20, 2019 <br />To the Orange County Board of Commissioners: <br />On behalf of the Orange County Economic Development advisory board, I wish to <br />report the recent election of new officers, and, their request for the BOCC to make a requested <br />appointment to fill one upcoming position for a current member whose te1m expires on June <br />30th. <br />. <br />First, the advisory board has elected Paige Zinn to serve as Chair, John Morris as Vice <br />Chair, and Barbara Jessie-Black as Secretary/Treasurer for the upcoming new fiscal year. <br />Second, the advisory board has 2 upcoming vacancies due to members who are now <br />ending their service effective June 30th (Jim Kitchen, who fills the advisory board's "UNC <br />sector", and Mark ONeal, realtor, who fills the "core business sector"). <br />The Economic Development advisory board and its' new officers request that applicant_ <br />Kristen Smith-Young, who was recently named as UNC Chapel Hill's new Community Relations <br />Director, be appointed for an initial term, filling our advisory board's "UNC sector" position. <br />Regarding Mark O 'Neal 's tetm ending on June 30th, the advisory board is currently <br />working to recruit additional candidates, and would like to ask for additional time to identify <br />and recommend a strong candidate for the "core business sector". <br />B:;~~~ <br />Steve Brantley ~ <br />Director, Orange County Economic Development <br />131 W.
