Aging Board members voted unanimous to approve Jeff Charles' application to serve on the <br /> board. Janice will forward a letter of recommendation to the BOCC. <br /> 9. 2019-20 Budget <br /> a. Manager presented budget on May 2. Aging requested 2k for interpreter services, specifically <br /> to serve the Burmese & Karen population <br /> b. Proposing that approved outside agencies get 35% of their requested increase if application <br /> scored above 90. <br /> c. Janice to attend the BOCC Budget Work Session on June 6, and answer any questions regarding <br /> the Aging budget. <br /> d. On May 23, outside agency budget request applications will be reviewed & scored. <br /> e. Budget to be approved by the end of June. <br /> f. Proposed 2%wage adjustment for staff and continued free health insurance. <br /> 2017-22 Master Aging Plan <br /> 10. Quarterly MAP update from the following workgroups. <br /> a. Transportation — Lisa Berley <br /> i. Lisa reported that the Chapel Hill to Hillsborough-north Elderly Disabled Transportation <br /> Program will now offer transportation for other needs. Additionally, the form has been <br /> simplified. Expansion of Medical Transportation — UNC Medical Care rolling out <br /> SafeRide. New, Medical Transportation Decision Tree on the Dept. on Aging <br /> website: www.orangecountync.gov/261/Transportation <br /> b. Housing— Dick White; Staff: Cherie Rosemond and Ryan Lavalley <br /> i. Dick reported that the Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition will send a note to <br /> Eastowne development project partners, the Town of Chapel Hill and UNC Health Care, <br /> requesting that affordable housing be considered on the Eastowne site <br /> ii. Cherie asked for ideas for the next Aging in Community (AIC) Speaker Series, suggestions <br /> are as follows: stoke awareness & survival, housing/housing Expo, issues related to later <br /> life, and housing & affordable housing needs— how to fund & stay in home. Additional <br /> ideas should be sent to Cherie. <br /> iii. Requested that AIC ideas be put on next meeting's agenda <br /> c. Communication — Beverly Shuford <br /> i. Social Media outreach increasing with good reviews. Increased non-technical outreach <br /> & promotion through: Newspaper, PSA, Radio, Build Volunteer Outreach/Tabling <br /> team/train. <br /> ii.
