1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 4, 2019 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 4-a <br /> SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing Albert Lindy Pendergrass <br /> DEPARTMENT: County Commissioners <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Proclamation Donna Baker, Clerk to the Orange <br /> County Board of Commissioners, 919- <br /> 245-2130 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve a proclamation recognizing the life and services of Albert "Lindy" <br /> Pendergrass for the people of Orange County. <br /> BACKGROUND: Lindy Pendergrass was a law enforcement leader and throughout his life <br /> worked tirelessly to keep the Orange County community safe. <br /> Lindy Pendergrass served 26 years in the Chapel Hill Police Department and 32 years as the <br /> elected Sheriff of Orange County. <br /> At the time of his retirement in 2014, Sheriff Pendergrass was the oldest and longest serving <br /> Sheriff in the State of North Carolina. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with consideration of the <br /> proclamation. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br /> with the proclamation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the Proclamation <br /> Recognizing Albert Lindy Pendergrass and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />
