Box 8181 <br /> www.orangecountync.gov NORTH CAROLINA Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br /> _ oukl�v <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Orange Unified Transportation Board <br /> FROM: Nishith Trivedi, Transportation Planner <br /> DATE: April 29, 2019 <br /> SUBJECT: Information Item — BG MPO 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan <br /> This memorandum provides a brief summary of the Burlington-Graham Metropolitan <br /> Planning Organizations (BG MPO) Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) update <br /> process. <br /> Background <br /> VHB has been selected by BG MPO staff to update the MPO's MTP. They conducted <br /> their kickoff meeting Wednesday, April 17, 2019. The plan will list specific projects <br /> geared toward realizing the MPO's vision over the next 25 years. It is an update from <br /> the previous 2040 MTP which was adopted August 2015. <br /> Schedule: <br /> VHB will conduct a 16 month planning process and the MPO is schedule to adopted it <br /> fall 2020, following Federal Highway Administration review and approval. The schedule <br /> is as follow: <br /> • Phase 1: Assess Existing Conditions - March - June 2019 <br /> • Phase 2: Assess Future Conditions & Potential Improvements - May - October 2019 <br /> • Phase 3: Develop Recommended Plan - October 2019 - May 2020 <br /> • Final Plan Approval by FHWA - June - August 2020 <br /> • Key Public Involvement Points - June 2019, December 2019, February 2020 <br /> First public workshop is planned for Mid-June in Graham, detail information will be <br /> provided when venue is secured. <br />
