DRAFT 5
109
110 AGENDA ITEM 7: STAFF UPDATES
111
112 AGENDA ITEM 7A: FY 2020-2029 ORANGE COUNTY STRATEGIC TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENT PROGRAM(STIP)SUMMARY
113 Abigail Pittman gave the committee three quick updates.
114
115 Heidi Perry: Is there going to be bike lanes and sidewalks on the S. Churton Street project, is it the one that we looked at from
116 a public hearing somewhere recently.
117
118 Abigaile Pittman: No, that is for the next cycle the one that will come out in two years.
119
120 AGENDA ITEM 713: ORANGE COUNTY&NCDOT HIGHWAY LUNCHEON MEETING NOTES
121
122 Abigaile Pittman reviewed the luncheon meeting that was held on January 91h and referred the committee to the notes
123
124 Abigaile Pittman: In response to Amy's interest in the SPOT Safety report, it is still in the works and they will report back as
125 soon as it is completed.
126
127 AGENDA ITEM 7C: MPOIRPO NCDOT PROJECT UPDATES
128
129 Abigaile Pittman updated the Board members on the projects
130
131 Heidi Perry: I looked back and it is the project shown with bike lanes and sidewalks but part of the requirements for it is
132 Hillsborough and Orange County to have an agreement about sidewalk maintenance, where does that stand?
133
134 Abigaile Pittman: It is not forgotten but part of the problem with reaching any kind of agreement is nobody knows what the
135 cost would be to put it in, what are they all agreeing to, not just the maintenance but the shared costs, etc. They don't have
136 enough details to move forward in making an agreement.
137
138 Heidi Perry: I would like to see it done,we've been trying to get it done for three years. The agreement.
139
140 Abigaile Pittman presented a news release by NCDOT titled "Funds Breathe New Life Into Safe Routes To School Program"
141 She will be sending it out to the OUTBoard.
142
143 Matt Day: My understanding is the concept for this is to essentially replace the active routes to routes to school funding that
144 had been in place for the last several years that came through Health and Human Services. Now this is DOT funding to
145 essentially replace that funding that has now gone away. That program had regional coordinators that worked with people in
146 each region and I think the intention is they are hoping something similar to that will continue on and folks will partner together
147 if there's some type of service like that.
148
149 Todd Jones: I am happy to serve as a liaison to the county schools. When we get to the point where we want to make some
150 proposals and get some partnership, just let me know.
151
152 Randy Marshall: I have noticed that the center line reflectors have disappeared and are not being replaced. Is there any
153 thought in getting those included in the County's resurfacing projects, they are a significant safety issues for minimal cost.
154
155 Abigaile Pittman: I can bring that up at the NCDOT Luncheon in April.
156
157 AGENDA ITEM:ADJOURNMENT
158 OUTBoard meeting was adjourned.
159
Art Menius, Chair
3
