a. Anticipating that our renovation plan will be out for bid on Monday, with responses back by <br /> April 30. A pre-bid meeting is also being held. The plan is to start Seymour remodel in June. <br /> 10. Board Chair to attend BOCC meeting this evening <br /> a. Peggy Cohn to report at BOCC meeting <br /> 11. Outside Agency Applications Review <br /> a. Vibeke Talley & Mary Altpeter are reviewing and scoring Outside Agency applications. <br /> b. Of special note: A new applicant is Hope Renovations, a trades program for women—to help <br /> underemployed women learn construction trades; also will work with our Handy Helper <br /> program. Since this is a work training program the DSS Board will review this application. <br /> 12. 2019-20 Budget <br /> a. Submitted, requested $2000 for translator work (Burmese/Karen) <br /> b. Capture our performance outcomes to see that we are meeting our goals. We will add to what <br /> we already capture: 1) Aging in place/in community outcomes, 2) How many OT & home visits, <br /> and 3) Success keeping individuals out of LTC. <br /> c. Recent VC55+ survey revealed excellent results. Survey focused on how volunteering impacts <br /> your life mentally, socially and physically. 100 volunteers completed the survey. The reviews <br /> and scores were very positive <br /> 13. School of Public Health Summer Practicum project <br /> a. MAP Goal 7: Ensure the community has accessible and affordable resources to support <br /> individual health and wellbeing goals throughout the aging process <br /> i. Posted two UNC— MPH student internship projects to be supervised by Melissa Hunter, <br /> MSW <br /> 1. Patient Navigator <br /> a. Provide volunteer doctors, nurses, medical students and trained lay <br /> volunteers to assist older adults navigate healthcare system, including: <br /> doctor appointments, follow ups, note taking, decipher medical jargon <br /> and ask appropriate questions. Ensure patient is informed and remains in <br /> control of their healthcare decisions <br /> b. Create training; develop best practices and guidelines to best serve the <br /> patient; and stay within set parameters to protect volunteer and patient <br /> c. Colin Austin to provide resources and information to ensure patient <br /> autonomy and decision making, as well as resources if a patient needs <br /> additional help. Important that we consider HIPAA regulations & <br /> compliance <br /> d. A Helping Hand provides escorts to medical appointments. Shenae <br /> McPherson will contact them to get more information about their <br /> service, including if they are just providing transport or if they are going <br /> into the appointment with the patient. Get info/guidelines from them so <br /> that we don't duplicate services <br /> 2. Mail & Money Management Project <br /> a. Important to clearly understand and communicate what volunteers are <br /> to do, making very clear that volunteers are to assist with basic daily <br /> tasks not to become representative payees <br /> b. Assist with mail management, list/organize bills needing to be paid, <br /> making sure the client writes and mails checks to pay bills. Heather <br /> Altman suggested that we call it, "Bill Organizing" <br /> c. Include Certified Daily Money Managers, "Check Writing" services in our <br /> Community Resource Guide <br /> d. The "Mail & Money Management Project started as result of SALT visits <br />
