1 <br /> <br />Orange County NC Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee ~ Tuesday, March 5, 2019 ~ Seymour Center Chapel Hill NC <br />Committee Member Attendees: Michael Zuber Chair, Autumn Cox, Ombudsman for Orange County NC, Annie Deaver, Aging Transitions Administrator, Gloria Brown, <br />Secretary, Shade Little, Nancy McCormick, William L, William Morgan and Joan <br />Rehm. Call In: Yvonne Mendenhall, Alison Brown, and Tiketha <br />Collins Excused Absence: None Resigned: Max Mason <br />Prospective Members: Karen Green-McElveen, Olivia Fisher, and MaryLou Gelblum Guests: None <br />Minutes To be Approved Tuesday, May 7, 2019 <br /> ACTION/OUTCOME <br />Welcome <br />Michael Zuber, Chair <br />M. Zuber called the meeting to order. <br /> M. Zuber stated that we have four (4) new applicants: asked by Orange County Elected Officials or <br />saw the ad in the Orange County Senior Times. <br /> M. Mason has submitted his formal resignation after serving successful 7-years. We need to vote <br />on a new Vice Chairperson at the next committee meeting so please consider if you would like to <br />fill the role of the Chair. <br /> Next week we have the Orange County Commissioners meeting where we will be presenting to <br />them our Annual Report from 2018 and bring the concerns that we see in Orange County with <br />regard of a person’s ability to pay. <br /> Support Personal Needs Allowance: $66 a month to pay for co-pays $30 a month NC has not <br />increased rates in thirty (30)-years. Any of their special needs comes out of this fund. Some <br />Administrators give the residents $20 out of the kindness of their heart. NC is ranked number 48 <br />out of 50-states. <br /> A Grassroots Advocacy Group “Friends of Residents in Long-Term Care” https://forltc.org <br />legislative priorities to increase Support Personal Needs Allowance funds in both of these areas. <br /> Orange County Emergency Task Force: Goal for transportation in case of an Emergency what <br />are the steps to follow: evaluate the residents to a proper facility, power outages, fire, rain and wind <br />damages and etc. A. Deaver will attend. <br /> Member Members: M. Zuber asked Autumn Cox to introduce the new committee members. <br /> A. Cox stated that William “Bill” Morgan is official. <br /> We have four (4) new applicants and Joan Rehm has already completed her training which was held <br />at The Stratford. Once her paper work is received she will be approved for visits. <br /> The meeting was <br />called to order at <br />4:05 pm.
