APPROVED 5/21/2019 <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> BOCC/BOARD OF EDUCATION JOINT MEETING <br /> April 23, 2019 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a joint meeting with the Chapel Hill- <br /> Carrboro Board of Education and Orange County Board of Education on Tuesday, April 23, <br /> 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Penny Rich and Commissioners Mark Dorosin, <br /> Sally Greene, Mark Marcoplos, Earl McKee and Renee Price <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Jamezetta Bedford <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION PRESENT: Chair Joal Broun, James <br /> Barrett, Rani Dasi, Amy Fowler, and Mary Ann Wolf <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION ABSENT: Pat Heinrich <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION PRESENT: Chair Brenda Stephens, Will <br /> Atherton, Dr. Steve Halkiotis, Hillary MacKenzie, Matthew Roberts and Sarah Smylie <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION ABSENT: Tony McKnight <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> Travis Myren, and Deputy Clerk II Sherri Ingersoll (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below) <br /> DURHAM TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE STAFF PRESENT: President Dr. Bill Ingram <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO SCHOOLS (CHCCS) STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Pam <br /> Baldwin, Patrick Abele, Assistant Superintendent, Support Services, Jennifer Bennett, Assistant <br /> Superintendent Budget & Finance, Pam Jones, Interim Vice-Superintendent <br /> ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS (OCS) STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Dr. Todd Wirt, <br /> Rhonda Rath, Chief Finance Officer, Sara Pitts, Interim Chief Operations Officer <br /> Chair Rich called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Chair Rich welcomed everyone to the meeting, and reminded everyone that this meeting <br /> is to talk about budget, and how to move forward. <br /> Chair Rich said Commissioner Bedford is not here tonight, as she is with her sister in <br /> New York. <br /> Chair Rich said she would like to take this opportunity to thank Emergency Services, and <br /> its response to the tornado. She said the Governor was able to visit Maple View, and also <br /> visited Leslie Drive, which was one of the worst hit areas. She said the County Manager and <br /> staff are working to assist the residents there, since almost all homes in that area were affected. <br /> Chair Broun and Vice-Chair Wolf arrived at 7:03 p.m. <br /> Chair Rich reviewed the agenda for the evening. <br /> 1.
