8 <br /> 1 Daniel Aaron Toben has been a leader in environmental restoration and remediation in Orange <br /> 2 County. Mr. Toben has made significant contributions to improve the health and welfare of the <br /> 3 residents of Orange County. He has worked diligently, at times leading multiple groups, to <br /> 4 improve the quality and natural beauty of Orange County's roadsides, streams and forests. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Commissioner Marcoplos read the proclamation: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 9 PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING <br /> 10 DANIEL AARON TOBEN <br /> 11 <br /> 12 WHEREAS, Orange County is committed to the health of its residents, both human and non- <br /> 13 human; and <br /> 14 <br /> 15 WHEREAS, trash and refuse discarded in the forests and streams and roadsides in Orange <br /> 16 County pose a health risk to those residents, and despoil the County's natural <br /> 17 beauty; and <br /> 18 <br /> 19 WHEREAS, the Mission of Orange County to provide services to its residents depends on the <br /> 20 energy, skills and dedication of all our employees and volunteers; and <br /> 21 <br /> 22 WHEREAS, Daniel Aaron Toben, a lifelong resident of Orange County, has voluntarily spent <br /> 23 thousands of hours and thousands of dollars of his earned income over the past <br /> 24 ten years cleaning up trash and tires in some of the most neglected parts of <br /> 25 Orange County; and <br /> 26 <br /> 27 WHEREAS, Daniel Aaron Toben has led school groups and church groups on volunteer clean- <br /> 28 up days around Orange County; and <br /> 29 <br /> 30 WHEREAS, Daniel Aaron Toben is voluntarily teaching classes about environmental restoration <br /> 31 and remediation to middle school and high school students across Orange <br /> 32 County; and <br /> 33 <br /> 34 WHEREAS, Daniel Aaron Toben has raised over $6,500 from concerned residents via online <br /> 35 crowd-funding sites to purchase trash bags, gloves, and others supplies needed <br /> 36 to complete his tasks for the benefit of Orange County; <br /> 37 <br /> 38 NOW, THEREFORE, the Orange County Board of Commissioners recognizes the significant <br /> 39 contribution that Daniel Aaron Toben has made to improve the health and <br /> 40 welfare of the residents of Orange County and to its streams and forests, offers <br /> 41 thanks to Daniel Toben for his sacrifice of time and resources to improve the <br /> 42 quality of life of the residents of Orange County, and for the example that he sets <br /> 43 for the students he teaches and leads in environmental restoration and <br /> 44 remediation across the County and encourages others to likewise help keep <br /> 45 Orange County the most beautiful county in North Carolina. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 This the 2nd day of May 2019. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 Daniel Toben thanked the Board of County Commissioners, and especially <br /> 50 Commissioner Marcoplos for this recognition.
