The classification shall be based upon the projected volume of traffic to be carried by e street , <br /> stated in terms of the number of trips per day ; <br /> 2 . The number of dwelling units to be served by the street may be a useful indicator f the number <br /> of trips but is not conclusive ; <br /> 3 . Whenever a subdivision street continues an existing street that formerly termi ated outside the <br /> ubdivision or it is expected that a subdivision street will be continued beyo the subdivision at <br /> s e future time , the classification of the street will be based upon the str t in its entirety , both <br /> with ' and outside of the subdivision . <br /> Street , Limit d Access <br /> A street to which cess from adjoining property is not direct , but is combi d , limited , channeled or <br /> prohibited . Limited ccess streets are one means for controlling access arterial streets and usually <br /> provide one access p ' nt along a single block face . <br /> Street , Local <br /> A street used or designed p ' marily to provide access to abutting operties . It serves or is designed to <br /> serve at least ten but not mor than 25 dwelling units and is ex p cted to or does handle between 75 and <br /> 200 trips per day . <br /> Street , Loop <br /> A street used as a means for local tra is to leave and en r other streets without turning around , but <br /> providing access only to abutting prope ies . These str is are less than one mile in length and have no <br /> collector characteristics . <br /> Street , Marginal Access <br /> A minor street which is parallel to and adjacent an arterial street , and which provides access to abutting <br /> properties and protection from through traffic . inal access streets may also be referred to as " service <br /> roads " . <br /> Street , Minor <br /> A street used or designed primarily to rovide access to utting properties . It serves or is designed to <br /> serve not more than nine dwelling u s and is expected to r does handle up to 75 trips per day . <br /> Street , Private <br /> A vehicular way , built to the pri ate street standards of Orange C unty , not intended for public use or <br /> public dedication and which rves a limited number of lots , <br /> it is m intained by private property owners <br /> and intended for use by tho e private property owners . <br /> Street , Public <br /> A street which has be n accepted for permanent maintenance by the State f North Carolina . <br /> Street , Subco ector <br /> A street used or esigned to provide access to abutting properties , but is also de ' gned to be used or is <br /> used to conne t minor or local streets with collector or arterial streets .
