Article 10 : Definitions <br /> Section 10 . 1 : Definitions <br /> A atural water - carrying trough eroded vertically into low areas of the land surface by ero ' e action of <br /> con ntrated flowing water or a ditch or canal excavated for the flow of water . <br /> Chann Effluent <br /> A discernab confined , and discrete conveyance which is used for transportin reated wastewater to a <br /> receiving strea or other body of water . <br /> Chemical stora facility <br /> A building , portion of a ilding , or exterior area adjacent to a buildin sed for the storage of any <br /> chemical or chemically re tive products . <br /> Child Care <br /> A program or arrangement where ree or more children les than 13 years old , who do not reside where <br /> the care is provided , receive care on regular basis of at ast once per week for more than four hours <br /> per day from persons other than their g rdians or full - ' e custodians , or from persons not related to <br /> them by birth , marriage , or adoption . Chi care doe not include the following : <br /> a ) Arrangements operated in the home f an child receiving care if all the children in care are <br /> related to each other or no more than t additional children are in care ; <br /> b) Recreational programs operated for I s an four consecutive months in a year ; <br /> c) Specialized activities or instruction ch as letics , dance , art , music lessons , horseback riding , <br /> gymnastics , or organized clubs f children , su as Boy Scouts , Girl Scouts , 4 - H groups , or boys <br /> and girls clubs ; <br /> d ) Drop - in or short-term care p vided while parents p ticipate in activities that are not employment <br /> related and where the par nts are on the premises or herwise easily accessible , such as drop - <br /> in or short-term care pr ided in health spas , bowling all s , shopping malls , resort hotels , or <br /> churches ; <br /> e ) Public schools ; <br /> f) Non - public scho s described in Part 2 of Article 39 of Chapter 1 C of the North Carolina <br /> Statutes that e accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools and that <br /> operate a c d care facility as defined under Child Care Facility for le s than six and one - half <br /> hours per ay either on or off the school site ; <br /> g ) Bible s ools conducted during vacation periods ; <br /> h ) Car rovided by facilities licensed under Chapter 110 , Article 7 of the North rolina General <br /> St utes ; <br /> i ) ooperative arrangements among parents to provide care for their children as a co venience <br /> rather than for employment ; and <br /> Any child care program or arrangement consisting of two or more separate components , ach of <br /> which operates for four hours or less per day with different children attending each compo nt . <br /> Chili-Care Facility <br /> Use type offering temporary care to clients , including children , adolescents , and adults , for no more than <br /> eight hours in a 24 hour period . Care can be offered regardless of the time of day and whether or not <br /> operated for profit .
