Article 5 : Uses <br /> Section 5 . 9 : Standards for Utilities <br /> such pro ed leased or consists i i y easements <br /> currently used for electrica ransmission purposes . <br /> Ex ' etation may be used to satisfy the landscaping req nts . <br /> ( C) Submittal Requirements and Standards of Evaluation for Solar Array — Public Utility <br /> ( Class A Special Use Permit) <br /> 1 ) Submittal Requirements <br /> In addition to the information required by Section 2 . 7 , the following sha be <br /> submitted as part of the application : <br /> ( a) A site plan showing all existing structures on the property , y proposed <br /> buildings or structures that are necessary to support the oposed array , <br /> existing and proposed storage areas , parking and acce areas , <br /> topography at a contour interval of five feet , any offici y designated <br /> floodplains or alluvial soils . <br /> ( b) lans and elevations for all proposed structures a arrays as well as <br /> d scriptions of the color and nature of all exterior aterials . <br /> ( c) Lan scape Plan , at the same scale as the site Ian , showing existing <br /> and p posed trees , shrubs , ground cover a other landscape material <br /> ( d ) A soils r ort denoting the types of soil on e property including detail <br /> on the co paction necessary to support e proposed development . <br /> (2) Standards of Evalu tion <br /> ( a) All on - site utilit and transmission lin s shall , to the extent feasible , be <br /> placed undergro nd . <br /> ( b) The height of prop ed arrays a support structures shall not exceed <br /> 40 feet . <br /> ( c) Individual arrays/solar nel shall be designed and located in order to <br /> prevent reflective glare t rd any inhabited buildings on adjacent <br /> properties as well as adja nt street rights - of-way . <br /> ( d ) A clearly visible warnin sign oncerning voltage must be placed at the <br /> base of all pad - mount d trans rmers and substations . <br /> ( e) All mechanical equi ment of prin ' al solar energy systems including any <br /> structure for batte ' es or storage ce s , shall be completely enclosed by a <br /> minimum eight ( foot high fence wi a self - locking gate , and provided <br /> with screening ' accordance with the rovisions of Section 6 . 8 . <br /> (f) The applica shall submit proof of liabilit insurance covering bodily <br /> injury and operty damage demonstrating minimum coverage limit of $ <br /> 500 , 0002 per occurrence . <br /> ( g ) A Type Land Use Buffer shall be provided al ng any portion of the <br /> perim ter of the parcel , easement , or leasehold ea located adjacent to <br /> pro rty zoned , or otherwise utilized for , residenti use except where <br /> su property is owned , leased or consists of other tility easements <br /> c rrently used for electrical distribution or transmissio purposes . <br /> Existing vegetation may be used to satisfy the landscap g requirements . <br /> ( 3 ) Dec missioning <br /> T applicant agrees to the following as conditions in case the utility to be <br /> andoned : <br /> ( a) The owner/operator of the facility is required to notify the Orange ounty <br /> Planning Director in writing 60 days prior to planned the cessation <br /> Orange County, North Carolina — Unified Development Ordinance Page 5 - 112 <br />
