Hanover Research | December 2017 <br /> © 2017 Hanover Research 6 <br />SECTION I: ORANGE COUNTY WORKFO RCE NEEDS <br />In this section, Hanover discusses degrees and training programs that employers would like <br />to see Durham Tech offer in Orange County and the worker skills that are most important to <br />employers in the county . When possible , Hanover mentions whether Durham Tech already <br />provide s relevant coursework or programs in the county. This analysis is supplemented with <br />data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS ), the North Carolina Department of Commerce, <br />and other secondary sources. <br /> <br />PROGRAMS NEEDED <br />Durham Tech already offers coursework for several credit programs (at the certificate or <br />associate’s degree level ) that appear to be in demand in Orange County, and several are <br />offered at the Orange County campus as of F all 2017.9 However, Durham Tech could consider <br />expanding other in-demand programs w hich it currently offers only at its Durham campus. In <br />general, there appear to be th ree types of credit programs that are in-demand in Orange <br />County (Figure 1.1): those in health technology, information technology, and public safety. <br /> <br />Figure 1.1: Summary of In-Demand Credit Programs in Orange County <br /> <br /> <br />Additional potential areas of demand include culinary arts, electrician and electric project <br />management, industrial logistics, and sustainable technology.
