<br /> <br />• Ombudsman’s Report (Autumn Cox, Ombudsman) <br />➢ Brookshire: Elder Abuse and Residents‘ rights classes are scheduled for staff . <br />➢ Carol Woods: Announced and has met with new Administrator <br />➢ Pruitt: Also has new Administrator. <br />➢ Signature: dealing with staff issues w/the competitive salaries, complaints have decreased in the <br />past 6 months <br />o She has begun to send our approved site visit reports to the Nursing Home Administrators. <br />Committee members agree this is a good strategy and encourage her to continue these efforts. <br />o Please continue to recruit potential members for the committee. Both ours, and the county’s adult <br />care home committees are in need of additional members. <br /> <br />• Review and Discuss Bylaws: We had a lengthy discussion regarding changes to our Policies and <br />Procedures. These changes were needed to be in compliance with HB248. The committee accepted the <br />revisions and Autumn will submit to the County Commissioners. <br /> <br />• Department on Aging Report (Annie Deaver) <br />o DoA is in the process of hiring a social worker. <br />o Extra office space is now available at the Seymour Ctr. It is a glass enclosed office located next to <br />the Senior Center’s entrance. <br />o The Aging Help Line had more than 1650 calls/walk-ins asking for assistance during 2018. <br />o DoA is also in the process of updating its Policies & Procedures/Guidelines. Annie will continue to <br />inform committee members of any changes affecting our work. <br />o The Senior Resource Teams: an idea initiated in our county’s Master Aging Plan, has been at <br />work. These volunteer teams meet monthly to provide advocacy around causes important to Orange <br />County older adults —There are 14 Senior Resource Teams, the Long-term Care SRT meets each <br />2nd Thursday 1-2:30pm at Signature Health. This SRT is most relevant to this committee. <br /> <br />• Reminders <br />o 1st Quarter ActivityReports: Due this month: January 2019 <br />o Quarterly Site Visit Reports: due when visits are complete.
