<br />A letter of resignation from Carl C. Davis, Tar Collector, was read by Chairman Hobbs.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jone a, seconded by Commissioner Walker, and unanimously adopted,
<br />the resignation of Carl C. Davis as Tax Collector was accented rith regrot, such resignation to
<br />become effective !Say 1, 1959.
<br />She Hoard received a request from the Poard oS Education that the membership of the Hoard of
<br />Education be increased from three (3) to live (5)• Upon motion of Commissioner Stzntord, seconded
<br />by Commissioner Yfalker, and unanimously adooted, the Chairman directed the Clerk to send a copy of
<br />thls resolution along with a copy of the letter from the Hoard of Education to our legislators.
<br />The Board also passed the motion that the compensation and travel allorrunce of the Loard of
<br />Education be equalized and that the per diem be set at ;j10,00 per' meeting.
<br />Upon motion of Co^cnissioner Janos, seconded try Colmiissioner McDade, and unanimously adopted,
<br />the County Accountant v2s authorized to treat the termite infected area of the courthouse and to
<br />secure the option for renewal far each additional year thar eafter for the sum of $20.00 annually.
<br />ffie Board inspecte3 the jail following the report of the Grand Jury and found certain azeas
<br />in need of repair. They suggested that the inside of the ,jail be painted, cecilings fixed, leak
<br />in plumbing repaird, this also includes the Jailez~'s living quartet s.
