Article 5: Uses 109 <br /> Section 5.8: Standards for Childcare&Educational Facilities <br /> (ii) For all schools, the lot size shall be adequate to accommodate <br /> all activities. The proposed methods to handle the maximum <br /> number of participants and patrons for any single event shall be <br /> provided while also adhering to safe vehicular and pedestrian <br /> circulation. <br /> (iii) Negative visual impacts shall be minimized along any major <br /> roadway. Negative visual impacts include, but are not limited to, <br /> loading/unloading areas, delivery areas, air handling units (roof <br /> top and other), parking areas for machinery, and storage <br /> buildings. Appropriate screening methods shall be used to <br /> enhance the aesthetic value of a project. <br /> (iv) Transportation improvements as deemed necessary by the <br /> Traffic Impact Study. <br /> (v) The site shall be designed to take advantage of multiple shared <br /> use opportunities, which may include a Park and Ride facility for <br /> public transportation. <br /> (vi) Site Access <br /> a. There shall be a minimum of two access points to the <br /> site. <br /> b. Access points shall separate student drop-off areas and <br /> visitor parking from bus traffic. <br /> C. If school buses are used, then at least one access shall <br /> be limited to school employee and bus use during <br /> normal school hours. <br /> d. All access points shall be located to provide maximum <br /> visibility and safety. <br /> e. No driveway shall be permitted in a location that will <br /> hinder or congest traffic movement on a public street. <br /> 5.8.5 Schools: Technical, Trade, and Skill Training <br /> (A) Use Standards <br /> (1) Standards for the LC-1, NC-2, CC-3, EC-5, EDH-4, and EDH-5 Zoning <br /> Districts <br /> (a) Structures shall not exceed 16,000 sq.ft. of floor area. <br /> (b) Schools shall involve only activities associated with Continuing <br /> Education, Performing/Fine Arts, Sports and Recreation, and Trade <br /> schools as defined herein. <br /> (2) Standards for the GC-4, 12, 1-3, EDB-2, and EDE-2 Zoning Districts <br /> (a) Schools shall involve only activities associated with Continuing <br /> Education, Performing/Fine Arts, Sports and Recreation, and Trade <br /> schools as defined herein. <br /> (3) Standards for the O/RM or MPD-CZ Zoning Districts <br /> (a) All School: Technical, Trade, and Skill Training land uses, as defined <br /> herein, shall be permitted. <br /> (4) Applications proposing flight training schools shall submit documentation <br /> identifying where actual flying activities are intended to occur. No on-site flying <br /> activities, other than the use of simulators, shall be permitted. <br /> M(5) Applications proposing a Community College shall require prior approval, and <br /> budgetary allocation of funds by, the Orange County Board of County <br /> Commissioners before being submitted for processing if County funding is <br /> Orange County, North Carolina—Unified Development Ordinance Page 5-102 <br />
