<br /> <br />• Established a Task Force in the spring of 2017 <br />• The findings of the community charrette were compiled into a Report to Council, completed in <br />June 2017 (available online) <br /> <br />4. Update / Mountains to Sea Trail <br /> Dave Stancil / Director Orange County, Dept. of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation gave an <br />update on the Mountains to Sea Trail <br />• Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) Route was adopted by the Orange County BOCC on 1/23/2018 <br />• Dave presented the various section of the route; the exiting; the proposed conceptual and the idea <br />of the alternative multi-modal route <br /> <br />5. Update / Trails & Greenways Map / Marabeth Carr presented on the Trails and Greenways Map <br />• The Interactive Park Locater Map was shown to the group with a description of how it works. As <br />Trueblood pointed out, information is continually being added and updated; therefore the map <br />continues to grow. <br /> <br />5. What’s on the Horizon? / Long Range Parks and Recreation Plans <br /> A. Town of Chapel Hill; Linda Smith – Just finished Tanyard Branch Trail; might apply for a PARTF <br />for the American Legion Property; deciding on resurfacing of 2 soccer fields at Southern; working on <br />design of Morgan Creek trail extension <br />B. Town of Carrboro; Jones McNair – Ribbon cutting last Saturday for the renovated town commons <br />project includes new restrooms; grassed areas irrigation; playground shade sail and lighting; also <br />have an RFQ for MLK Park. <br />C. Town of Hillsborough; Robb English Downtown sidewalks and ADA ramps are complete; master <br />plans are in the works for each of the parks. <br />D. Orange County; Dave Stancil – Construction of a parking area for the Seven Mile Creek Access <br />Area recently completed will have an opening soon. Blackwood Farm Park revised Master Plan was <br />adopted by the BOCC; there is in interest in having a honey house. Sportsplex fieldhouse is <br />underway; Earth Evening is April 28th in River Park; Farm to Table May 4th; Fairview Park landfill <br />study is underway. <br />E. City of Mebane; Dean Ray- Held groundbreaking for a new 32 acre Community Park. Amenities <br />include artificial turf soccer fields, concession building, a splash park and dog park, walking trails and <br />open play space. The park is slated to open late 2018. In the process of purchasing a 52 acre farm <br />this site will have passive recreational activities plan to use the barn as a party type of venue. <br />F. Others- UNC Recreation, Bill Goa-UNC redoing driveway to the University Lake Boat House. Also <br />renovating disc golf course because of tree damage; reducing the number of hole from 21 to 17. <br />ENO River Association- Confluence Natural Area grand opening 5/5/18 <br /> <br />6. Topics of Interest for 2018 Consensus were to finalize the Trails and Greenway Map. <br /> <br />7. Adjournment 6:50pm. <br /> <br /> <br />
