ORANGE COUNTY ARTS COMMISSION <br /> January 14, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Link Government Building <br /> 200 South Cameron <br /> Hillsborough, NC <br /> Board Members present: Tim Hoke, Chair,Doris Friend, Secretary,Delia Keefe, Tinka Jordy, Marlon <br /> Torres, Fred Joiner, Evan Linett, Bronwyn Merritt, Dan Mayer <br /> Board Members absent:Linda Williamson,Ashley Nissler, Chris Kubica, Vice Chair, Marcelo Slade,Anita <br /> Mills <br /> Staff Present: Katie Murray, Executive Director <br /> I. Tim called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> II. Delia moved, Marlon seconded to approve the November, 2018 minutes. Motion approved. <br /> III. Following discussion, Fred moved, Doris seconded to approve Justin Haslett for membership <br /> on the OCAC Advisory Board. Motion passed. <br /> IV. Director's Report: <br /> • The Arts Educator Professional Development Fund has received three applications, <br /> all from Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. <br /> • The joint grant application to Z Smith Reynolds (OCAC, Free Spirit Freedom, <br /> Empowerment, Orange County Human Rights)was not approved. Katie reached out <br /> to ZSR for feedback and learned that of the 90 applications received, 80%were from <br /> the Triangle area. Ours was strong and opportunities may exist in the future. <br /> • The big report, Enriching our Cultural Character will be issued by the end of January. <br /> • The artists' holiday"Arty Party" was very well attended (approximately 75). The <br /> presenters were excellent. Planning for the next event in April at Red Eye in <br /> Hillsborough. Suggestions for presenters are welcome as are ideas for a name to <br /> replace "Arty Party". <br /> • The River Park stakeholders meeting concluded without a clear direction for the <br /> future. <br /> • The ArtSpace Working Group will meet on January 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chapel Hill <br /> Library, Room A. Thanks to Fred for his work with this group. <br /> • ArtsDay in Raleigh is coming up on March 26 &27. Katie has arranged for Tift <br /> Merritt to perform on the 261". Lobbying takes place on the 271". Please attend. <br /> We need good representation from OCAC. <br /> • Katie has been appointed to Town of Chapel Hill Varsity Theater Task Force. There <br /> will be ongoing negotiations between the Town and the owner of the theater. <br />
