AGENCY INFORMATION (Be Very Brief and Concise) <br /> Please provide the following information about your agency (2 pages OR LESS)- <br /> a) Years in Operation, Date of Incorporation (Month/Year): 11 years. 10 months <br /> Agency's Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences):With a focus on STEM education, <br /> the arts, child health and emerging literacy, Kidzu Children's Museum inspires children and <br /> the adults in their lives to learn through creative, purposeful play. <br /> b) Types of Services the Agency Provides (bullet format): <br /> • Kidzu Children's Museum, located in University Place, includes 9 hands-on interactive <br /> exhibit areas, including the only dedicated makerspace in the Carolinas designed <br /> specifically for young children, and a recently opened outdoor learning garden focused on <br /> native plants and pollinators. Kidzu hosts focused learning field trips for school groups and <br /> special programs for children and adults. <br /> • The museum's expert education staff facilitate a rich year-round calendar of programming <br /> focused on the arts, S.T.E.M (science, technology, engineering and math), emerging <br /> literacy and child health and wellness. The programming takes place in the museum and <br /> throughout the community through our "museum in a box" initiatives. <br /> • Kidzu works with many outside individuals and organizations to provide supplemental <br /> enrichment activities for community events and out-of-school time programs. Kidzu has a <br /> roster of over 100 community partners representing academic, scientific, artistic and civic <br /> facets of our community. <br /> • Kidzu provides multiple programs targeted towards supporting underserved communities. <br /> Programs include: once monthly "open access" day at the museum (free admission to all), <br /> STEM and arts based enrichment activities during community celebrations such as <br /> Hargraves Family Fun Day, STEM and arts based programming for out-of-school time <br /> programs, scholarship opportunities for museum based programs and free family <br /> memberships and visitor passes. <br /> c) Agency's History with Providing These Services: <br /> Since 2006 Kidzu has been the leading and primary early learning cultural institution in <br /> Chapel Hill. Since re-locating to University Place in April, 2015 Kidzu has consistently <br /> served over 90,000 visitors per year in the museum and reached over 5,000 children and <br /> families through outreach programming in the community. Since 2015, Kidzu has facilitated <br /> museum in a box STEM programs for multiple out of school time programs and supported <br /> children and families extending their "learning day" through innovative educational activities <br /> in community centers and the museum. Since 2017 we have received Human Services <br /> funds supporting the out of school time work in underserved areas of our community. <br /> d) Other Pertinent Agency Information (Ex.
