2 <br /> Appropriated for this project: <br /> Current FY 2018-19 FY 2018-19 <br /> FY 2018-19 Amendment Revised <br /> Senior Citizen Wellness $151,043 $10,000 $161,043 <br /> Total Costs $151,043 $10,000 $161,043 <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 1) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior <br /> injuries, gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> 2. Orange County Department on Aging received donations from the Carol Woods <br /> Retirement Community in FY 2017-18 that were not fully expensed at year-end. These <br /> funds should have been classified as deferred revenue/in-flows for the Master Aging <br /> Plan Initiatives (MAP), but the funds rolled into fund balance at year-end. This budget <br /> amendment provides for a fund balance appropriation of $128,263 from the General <br /> Fund for use by the department toward MAP initiatives in FY 2018-19. Orange County Visitor's Bureau has received $140,856 in additional revenue from the <br /> Town of Chapel Hill, for surpassing FY2017-18 performance benchmarks. As per the <br /> Agreement, the Town of Chapel Hill agrees to award the Visitor's Bureau 50% of <br /> revenues from hotel/motel occupancy receipts of collections exceeding $1,000,000. <br /> The Bureau will use the funds for additional advertising, as well as polling past visitors <br /> on changing perceptions of the county and the municipalities. Additionally, funds will be <br /> earmarked to pay for analysis to track Airbnb sales to determine the effect on the local <br /> tourism market. Lastly, a small portion shall be used to make up for shortfalls in the <br /> telephones and credit card acceptance charge line items. This budget amendment <br /> provides for the receipt of these additional funds for the purposes mentioned above. <br /> (See Attachment 1, column 3) <br />
