Division 9, Section "Paints and Coatings". <br /> 1.2 Submittals <br /> A. Refer to Section 01 33 00, Submittals,for requirements. <br /> 1.3 References <br /> A. International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Guideline No. 03732 - Selecting and Specifying Concrete Surface <br /> Preparation for Sealers, Coatings, and Polymer Overlays. <br /> B. SSPC-SP 13/NACE 6-Surface Preparation of Concrete. <br /> 1.4 Delivery, Storage and Handling <br /> A. Delivery: Deliver materials to site in manufacturer's original, unopened containers and packaging,with labels clearly <br /> identifying: <br /> 1. Material name. <br /> 2. Manufacturer. <br /> 3. Batch or lot number. <br /> 4. Date of manufacture. <br /> 5. Mixing instructions. <br /> B. Storage: <br /> 1. Store materials in a clean dry area and within temperature range in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. <br /> 2. Keep containers sealed until ready for use. <br /> 3. Do not use materials beyond manufacturer's shelf life limits. <br /> C. Handling: Protect materials during handling and application to prevent damage or contamination. <br /> D. Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with <br /> requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction. <br /> 1.5 Environmental Conditions <br /> A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by <br /> manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's <br /> absolute limits. Materials installed during adverse weather conditions shall be subject to rejection including removal <br /> and replacement. <br /> 1.6 Quality Assurance <br /> A. Contractor shall provide sufficient qualified workmen and supervisors who shall be present at all times during <br /> execution of this portion of the work and who shall be familiar with the type of construction involved and the materials <br /> and techniques specified. <br /> B. The Owner shall make no allowance for lack of skill of the workmen. <br /> C. Contractor shall coordinate with coating manufacturer's technical service department or independent sales <br /> representative for current technical data and instructions. <br /> D. The manufacturer shall assign a local representative to periodically observe the application of the product. <br /> PART 2 -PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 Water Repellants General <br /> A. Materials Compatibility: Provide finish-coat materials that are compatible with one another and with the substrates <br /> indicated under conditions of service and application, as demonstrated by manufacturer based on testing and field <br /> experience. <br /> 2.2 Water Repellant Coating Material <br /> A. Materials specified herein shall not preclude consideration of equivalent or superior materials.Suggested equivalent <br /> materials or other substitutions shall be submitted to Consultant for consideration in compliance with substitution <br /> procedures as specified. <br /> 1. Requests for substitution shall include evidence of satisfactory past performance in similar environment. <br /> 2.
