Mask or otherwise protect windows,doors,ornamental trim,glass,wood,limestone and cast stone surfaces from <br /> cleaning chemicals. <br /> 2. At least two hours prior to cleaning, saturate work with clean water and flush off loose debris. Flush with water, <br /> from the top down.Areas below should also be saturated in order to prevent absorption of the run-off from above. <br /> 3. Starting at the top,apply cleaning solution.Allow cleaning solution to remain on the wall for approximately 5- 10 <br /> minutes, following the manufacturer's recommendations. Wooden paddles or other non-metallic tools may be <br /> used to remove stubborn particles. Do not use metal scrapers or chisels. Ideally, the cleaning crew shall be <br /> working on shaded areas to avoid rapid evaporation. <br /> 4. Rinse thoroughly. Flush the wall down with large amounts of clean water from top to bottom, before they can dry. <br /> Failure to completely flush the wall of cleaning solution and dissolved matter from top to bottom may result in the <br /> formation of"white scum". <br /> 5. Work in a small area.The size of the"wash down"area should be determined after a trial run. <br /> D. Safely discard solutions containing debris and residue. <br /> 3.10 PAINTING OF CMU BLOCK COLORED BANDS <br /> A. Apply paints according to manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations in "MPI Architectural Painting <br /> Specification Manual". <br /> 1. Verify suitability of substrates, including surface conditions and compatibility,with existing finishes and primers. <br /> 2. Clean substrates of substances that could impair bond of paints,including dust,dirt,oil,grease,and incompatible <br /> pains and encapsulants. <br /> 3. Proceed with coating application only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. <br /> 4. Apply paints to produce surface films without cloudiness,spotting,holidays,laps,brush marks,roller tracks,runs, <br /> sags, ropiness, or other surface imperfections. Cut in sharp lines and color breaks. <br /> 5. Dry film thickness of not less than 10 mils. <br /> 6. After completing paint application, clean spattered surfaces. Remove spattered paints by washing, scraping, or <br /> other methods. Do not scratch or damage adjacent finished surfaces. <br /> 3.11 APLICATION OF WATER REPELLANT <br /> A. For application of water repellant, see Section 07 19 00,Water Repellants. <br /> 3.12 PAINTING METAL LOUVERS <br /> A. Remove rust from surface of metal louvers. <br /> B. Apply paint according the paint manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> 3.13 PAINTING METAL LOUVERS <br /> A. Remove rust from surface of metal louvers. <br /> B. Apply paint according the paint manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> 3.14 APPLICATION OF PREFORMED SILICONE SEAL AT METAL COPING JOINTS <br /> A. Install preformed silicone seal as described in Section 07 92 00, Elastomeric Joint Sealants. <br /> 3.15 FINAL INSPECTION <br /> A. Upon completion of the Work an inspection shall be made by the Engineer to ascertain that the Work has been <br /> completed according to the contract documents and the manufacturers published requirements. Observed defects <br /> shall be corrected as required to secure the specified warranty(s). <br /> B.
