Preparatory work to be completed prior to the application of water repellant. <br /> 5. Removal: Remove and legally dispose of items except those indicated to be reinstalled, salvaged, or to remain <br /> property of the Owner. <br /> B. Existing to remain: Protect construction indicated to remain against damage and soiling during selective removal. <br /> When permitted by Engineer,items may be removed to a suitable,protected storage location during selective removal <br /> and then cleaned and reinstalled in their original locations. <br /> C. Material ownership: Except for items or materials indicated to be reused,salvaged, reinstalled,or otherwise indicated <br /> to remain the Owner's property, demolished materials shall become the Contractor's property and shall be removed <br /> from the site. <br /> 1.4 Existing exterior wall Assemblies* <br /> A. CMU Masonry Wall: <br /> 1. Masonry wall consists of one (1)wythe of split-faced CMU block and CMU block forming a solid wall. Wall is 8 <br /> inches thick. <br /> 2. Sheet metal coping cover on top of the West Elevation wall sections. <br /> 3. Fenestrations include aluminum-framed windows, metal louvers, metal vent hood,overhead doors and standard <br /> doors. <br /> 4. Installed penetrations include roof drain-through wall scuppers, light fixtures, electrical junction boxes, HVAC <br /> chiller pipes, security cameras, PVC pipe condensate drain lines, gas lines and communication cables. <br /> * Wall system compositions are based on record drawings and wall openings, composition is confirmed. <br /> However, recommend verifying existing masonry wall components prior to submitting a bid proposal. <br /> PART 2 -products(not used) <br /> PART 3 -execution <br /> 3.1 removals <br /> A. Remove existing sealant and backing materials at all CMU wall control/expansion joints. <br /> B. Cut out/remove existing mortar to the designated depth at deteriorated, cracked and open CMU masonry joints. <br /> C. Rout existing cracks in CMU blocks to the designated depth. <br /> D. Remove masonry nails in the mortar joints. <br /> E. Remove fastener sleeves in the mortar joints. <br /> F. Remove any exterior pipes, conduits, louvers or vents penetrating the CMU that are not functioning, resulting from <br /> mechanical system upgrades. <br /> G.
