23 <br /> 1 Commissioner Marcoplos said they talked about sub-committees. He said this list <br /> 2 includes representatives of fairly large constituencies or organizations, and Commissioner <br /> 3 Dorosin's suggestion sounds like 4 ombudsmen. <br /> 4 Commissioner Dorosin said at large members, not ombudsmen, because if one is <br /> 5 not a member of these groups, one cannot currently get involved. He said it seems more <br /> 6 exclusive than it needs to be. <br /> 7 Commissioner Price asked if the Commission for the Environment (CfE) will be <br /> 8 involved in this process. <br /> 9 Commissioner Marcoplos said yes. <br /> 10 Brennan Bouma said he and two Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks <br /> 11 and Recreation (DEAPR) staff provide support for the CfE, and this committee would meet <br /> 12 and come back to elected boards and advisory boards in between meetings, which would <br /> 13 includes input from others without the size of the board being unmanageable. <br /> 14 Commissioner Price said there is no representation from immigrant groups or <br /> 15 populations <br /> 16 Commissioner Marcoplos said that could happen with the additional 4 slots. <br /> 17 Commissioner Green asked who would name these at large positions. <br /> 18 Chair Rich said the Climate Committee would get recommendations from the <br /> 19 Towns on the 4 at large positions. She said staff would be directed to pull composition <br /> 20 together for the towns. <br /> 21 Commissioner Marcoplos respectfully requested that the other governments resolve <br /> 22 this at their next meetings. <br /> 23 Travis Myren said at the next meeting, or earliest time practical. <br /> 24 Commissioner Marcoplos said he would like to be the BOCC member. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Marcoplos <br /> 27 for the Board to approve the formation of a Climate Committee, review and approve the <br /> 28 following membership composition. <br /> 29 <br /> Organization Representatives # <br /> Orange County BOCC Sustainability Director, Commissioner 2 <br /> Hillsborough Designated staff, Commissioner 2 <br /> Carrboro Sustainability Director, Alderperson 2 <br /> Chapel Hill Sustainability Director, Council person 2 <br /> CHCCS Sustainability Director, Board member, student 3 <br /> OCS Designated staff, Board member, student 3 <br /> UNC Sustainability Director, Student 2 <br /> OWASA Sustainability Director, Board member 2 <br /> CH-Carrboro NAACP Representative, youth 2 <br />
