6 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> AnimaC Services <br /> 1601 Eubanks Road I Chapel Hill, NC 27516 1 phone: (919)942-7387 1 fax: (919)918-2393 <br /> www.orangecountVnc.gov/animalservices <br /> To: Donna Baker, Clerk, Board of County Commissioners and Thom Freeman, Assistant Deputy <br /> Clerk, Board of County Commissioners <br /> From: Bob Marotto, Animal Services Director <br /> Re: Recommendations for Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool <br /> Staff contacted the following members of Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool (hereafter "the pool") <br /> and learned that they were available to serve another term: <br /> • Jean Austin: Ms. Austin has been available to serve throughout her first term in the pool and <br /> she has indicated that she is available to serve a second term. <br /> • Bonnie Hauser: Upon her recent appointment to the pool, Ms. Hauser quickly completed her <br /> training and served on a number of hearing panels. She has indicated that she is interested in <br /> serving another term. <br /> • Amanda Schwoerke: She has been a very active member of the pool and she has indicated an <br /> interest in continuing to serve the county in this capacity. Recently, Ms. Schwoerke became <br /> one of the three members of the Animal Services Advisory Board who are also members of the <br /> pool. As such, she is responsible for chairing some of the hearing panels that are convened. <br /> • Laurie Smith: Dr. Smith indicated she is willing to serve another term. During her first term, she <br /> has been one of the more active members of the pool during her first term. <br /> Staff also contacted Frederick Schmid, DVM and learned that he is no longer residing in Orange County, <br /> North Carolina. <br /> Please don't hesitate to let me know if there is a need for additional information. <br /> cc: Maureane Hoffman, Ph.D., MD, Chair, Animal Services Advisory Board <br /> Molly Mullin, Ph.D., Vice Chair, Animal Services Advisory Board <br />
