OWASA Annual Update Presentation <br /> The Board received a presentation and information from the Orange Water and <br /> Sewer Authority (OWASA) on recent activities. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> At the beginning of each calendar year over the last decade, OWASA representatives have <br /> appeared before the Board of Commissioners to make a presentation on recent OWASA <br /> activities. Ray DuBose and Jody Eimers, Orange County appointees to the OWASA Board, <br /> will provide an overview on several initiatives from OWASA's annual report. <br /> Ray Dubose made the following PowerPoint presentation: <br /> OWASA's Annual Update for Board of County Commissioner <br /> Jody Eimers and Raymond DuBose <br /> February 19, 2019 <br /> ■ OWASA orientation for new County Commissioners, Jamezetta Bedford and Sally <br /> Greene, on February 7, 2019 <br /> ■ First Quarterly Meeting of Members of the BOCC and Appointees to OWASA Board on <br /> January 30, 2019 <br /> Water System Resiliency <br /> ✓ Plan to invest -$33 million to replace -16 miles of water pipe over next 5 years <br /> ✓ Added resources for staff to improve valve exercise/maintenance program and capital <br /> improvements program execution <br /> ✓ Developing new water main assessment and replacement prioritization model <br /> ✓ Working closely with community partners and stakeholders on resiliency solutions <br /> Sewers for the Historic Rogers Road Area <br /> • 84% of pipe installed (approx. 3.5 of miles new sewer when complete) <br /> • Due to rock, completion now projected by the end of April 2019 <br /> • Revised construction costs is $4,963,119.44 <br /> Public Meetings related to Rock: <br /> • March 1, 2018 <br /> • March 13, 2018 with only Tallyho Trail residents <br /> • April 3, 2018 statement sent to residents about rock removal <br /> • April 5, 2018 <br /> • November 27, 2018 <br /> OWASA's Affordability Outreach Program Update: <br /> Strategies for Addressing Affordability <br /> • Rates and Billing <br /> • Information and Outreach <br /> • Bill Assistance <br />
