Four visits per year from sub-committee members to <br /> each of the five nursing homes in Orange County. This number includes Parkview Health and <br /> Rehabilitation Center which received its Medicare/Medicaid certification in September 2018. <br /> Brief Statement of Board/Commission's Assigned Charge and Responsibilities. <br /> • Stay informed about living conditions and quality of life for residents living in nursing homes. <br /> • Raise awareness about residents' rights issues and with the Ombudsman assist persons with <br /> grievance resolution. <br /> • Make official unannounced quarterly visits to each nursing home. <br /> • Prepare and submit official reports on visits to nursing homes. Approved reports are posted <br /> on the county website. <br /> • Work with the County Department on Aging and the Triangle J Ombudsman regarding <br /> programs to improve living conditions and quality of life for residents of nursing homes. <br /> • Serve as a nucleus to activate the community to support and improve quality of life for older <br /> adults living in nursing homes. Facilitate engagement of community volunteers for this <br /> purpose. <br /> • Promote activities in nursing homes that support resident well-being and reduce social <br /> isolation. <br /> What are your Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br /> 1. Completed quarterly advocacy site visits and reports for nursing homes. <br /> 2. Engaged Activity Directors and Administrators in conversations about the role activity <br /> programs have in the residents' experience of quality of life. Started collecting resources for <br /> activity programs and plan to continue building relationships with staff and residents to <br /> promote quality of life. <br /> 3.
