Lastly, we promote community awareness of the needs of residents in <br /> Orange County's LTC facilities. <br /> What are your Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br /> This past year, this committee of volunteers made 21 visits to area long-term care <br /> facilities. We trained and oriented 5 new volunteer committee members, bringing the <br /> total volunteers to nine. We established three new sub-committees and voted in four <br /> new officers. <br /> Most importantly, we continued advocacy efforts on behalf of the residents of these <br /> facilities and homes. On multiple occasions, we have made our mission and volunteer <br /> needs known to the Chapel Hill Eldercare Resources Group. We maintained, or <br /> improved, our relationships with our community providers. The local ombudsman <br /> started e-mailing visitation forms to the administrators for review. Michael Zuber & <br /> Gloria Brown also attended residents' rights training with the Triangle J Council of <br /> Governments. <br /> List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored Annually. <br /> Already explained above <br /> Describe this commission's activities/accomplishments in carrying out BOCC <br /> goal(s)/priorities <br /> The ACHCAC's activities and accomplishments described above align closely with the <br /> Goal 1 of the BOCC's FY2016-17 work plan: "to ensure a community network of basic <br /> human services and infrastructure that maintains, protects, and promotes the well-being <br /> of all county residents, and particularly the gaps in quality and quantity of long-term <br /> senior care (and especially low-income seniors)." <br /> Describe the collaboration relationship(s) this particular board has with other <br /> advisory boards and commissions? <br /> This Advisory Committee works closely with the Nursing Home Community Advisory <br /> Committee in initiatives and activities. It also has a representative on the Orange <br /> County Aging Advisory Board, therefore participating in the actions and efforts of that <br /> group. <br /> If your board/commission played the role of an Element Lead Advisory Board <br /> involved in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan preparation process, please indicate <br /> your board's activities/accomplishments as they may relate to the <br /> Comprehensive Plan's goals or objectives.
