Specific standards. <br />~ ~l ~~ o r "~"t fl^^~"'^ SI'IIAs where BFE data has been provided, as set forth in <br />Section 42-37 or 42-69, the following provisions are required: <br />1. Residential Consh•uction. New construction or substantial improvement of any residential <br />structure (including manufachued homes) shall have the t ~°,m- reference level, <br />+1, 7, fl a 1 ..,.ti <br />including basement, elevated na lower than two feet abov„-~~..-~.oo~~~ ~-e='- t e <br />reuulatory flood protection elevation as defined in Article 2 of this Ordinance. Should <br />solid foundation perimeter walls be used to elevate a structure, opening sufficient to <br />automatically facilitate equalization of hydrostatic flood farces on exterior walls the <br />urrinipe~' a `fl -''°"*°~" shall be provided pursuant to Section 42-. <br />2. Non-Residential Corzsb°uction. Structures <br />located in A, AO, AE and Al-.30 Zones maybe flood proofed no lower than two feet above <br />the level of the base flood elevation in lieu of elevation provided that all azeas of the structure <br />below the required flood protection elevation are watertight with walls substantially <br />impermeable to the passage of water, using structural components having the capability of <br />resisting hydrostatic and hydrodynamic loads and the effect of buoyancy. A North Carolina <br />licensed Professional Engineer or Architect shall certify that the standards of this subsection <br />are satisfied. Such certification shall be provided to the official as set forth in Section 42-68. <br />3. Manufactured Honaes. <br />a.
