Efland-Buckhorn-Mebane Access Management Plan
From: Wendy Williams <wwilliams-Debn-edu>
Sent: Tuesday, August 28, 2018 10,.215 PM
To: Nishith TFhmdi
Subject EBM ao€ess Management Plan
I wanted to giyL-feedbad€after attending the community meeting tonight_ I live at 6131 US 70 just east of the
intersection of Boddiorn Road and US 70. I'm in strong favor cf a potential bridge over the railroad-tracks that would
connect with Frasier Road- I can see where that would provide business access-
For me personally, the intersection at Buckhorn and 70 is rea Illy dangercus- It needs a stoplight bey use two
northbound lanes at the north end of Budchorn have been unofficially created-One turns right and one turns left onto
70 which leaves neither lane with good visibility_Tractor trai lers have a hand time turning at that intersection a nd they
are frequent because of avoiding the weigh station-
Even though I think the to meet intersection needs a stoprigkt, I can defi nhEly see traffic bar-king u p at the at the
stoplights on 70 creating a headadhefor people accessing Shambley road and my drhreMray_
I think rather tha n spending mroney to widen Buddiorn all the way to US 70, hopefully the Frazier bridge can get fast-
tracked for funding-The bridge project would reduce accidents at the intense€tion of Bud[harn Road and 70 as well as
the accidents at the intersection of Frasier Road and 70.And, another huge bonus for residents is that maybe the train
horns wouldn't need to blow with a bridge in place- Emergency vehicles, that frequerrtlyneed to get from US 70tothe
interstate could greatly benefit from the F razier Bridge as.well-
I also think the Mane Road extension is a great idea.Although I could see where that could negatitirely affect the way of
life of the community Irving on Mace Road-
There are qu ite a fai r amount of people who wa Ik along the road in front of our house. They have a Iways walked by to
get to the nearby convenience storey but now they are walking to the Dollar Genera as we11.One lady even rides her
motorized wheelchair along the shoulder of 70 to get to the store. Maybe sidewalks could be incorporated at some
poi nt-
I also think that the time is nea r for adding stoplights at the on and off ranWs of Bud.hcrn Road and 1-1351"0.
Thanks for asking for onmmrri4 bWwi
WendyWilhams
From: Nishith Trivedi
Sent: Wednesday,August 29,2018 11:16 AM
To: 'Wendy Williams'
Subject: RE: EBM access Management Plan
Thank you very much for these comments. We have included them in the material we are putting in preparing the draft
plan.
