Planned Projects <br /> 1-85 bisects the planning area and is scheduled for pavement rehabilitation through NCDOT's adopted FY 2018- <br /> 2027 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). <br /> • TIP 1-5954 &TIP 1-5958- 1-40/1-85 pavement rehabilitation totaling$18,365,000 and covering 7.4 miles. <br /> Prior to the state issuing the STIP every other year, NCDOT accepts a limited number of projects from <br /> Metropolitan Planning Organizations for inclusion through its Strategic Prioritization of Transportation (SPOT) <br /> process. Orange County submitted the following three protects in the planning area to BG MPO for <br /> consideration in the FY 2020-2029 STIP: <br /> • SPOT ID—H140373- Mattress Factory Road -extended to US-70-$306,000 <br /> • SPOT ID — H090193 - 1-40 — Mattress Factory Road Interchange - convert grade separation into <br /> interchange-$4,960,000 <br /> • SPOT ID— H090557— Buckhorn Road —SR-1114—widen to multi-lane with bike/ped accommodations - <br /> $14,674,000 <br /> While these protects will not be included in the FY 2020-2029 STIP, they are Orange County priorities for the E-B- <br /> M planning area. The City of Mebane has incorporated these three projects as part of its adopted 2040 <br /> Comprehensive Transportation Plan. While these projects are now part of Mebane's locally adopted plan, they <br /> also remain a priority for Orange County. The Buckhorn Road widening (SPOT ID H183915) is currently going <br /> through an express feasibility study conducted by NCDOT.The preliminary scope of the study includes: <br /> • Rebuilding the 1-85 interchange to improve access and egress <br /> • Construction of a railroad grade separation on a realigned Buckhorn Road connecting to Frazier Road <br /> • Realignment of Industrial Drive to Buckhorn Road with roundabout <br /> Orange County is currently identifying other transportation priorities in the planning area for the future SPOT <br /> process so they may be considered in the next STIP. <br /> Orange County Planning Department Page 8 <br />
