<br />WHEILAS, the present Board of Commissioners was hnxu in ofi ice at the time of the passing
<br />of Robert 0. Forrest, of Hillsboro, North Carolina, who was appointed to this Board on Atay 7, 1951,
<br />elected Chairman on December 1, 1952, and served in said capacity until Becember 5, 1951st and

<br />of the tine service of Robert U. Forrest and enter record thereof in the-minutes of this Board,

<br />in regular session on ;ionday, December 1, 1958, learn with personal sorrow of the death of Robert
<br />J. Forrest, and each member of this Board personally recalls the fine service zencerad by Mr.
<br />Forrest. He gave of his time eneeo,/ and mental effort in the best interest of Orange County.
<br />This deep interest. on the part of Pfr. Forrest. was not confined to the monthly meetings of the
<br />Bwrd of Commissioner s, but !vas continuous from day to day, and as a result oi. his efror is great
<br />progress eau made in the advancement. of efficient county government and the securing of modern
<br />and adequate county facilities. Although A1r. Forx est had not served during the past four years he
<br />had continued to maintain his deep interest and had at all times been willing to discusa with
<br />current members county pt oblems and his advice and counsel 'Has been deeply appreciated and
<br />greatly valued by the members of this Board.
<br />The name of Rpbert J. Forrest will stand out prominently in the lpng list of mer.,bors of
<br />the Board of County Commissioners oT Oran Se County who have contributed greatly to the advancement
<br />and progress of our County. This wise counsel and deco interest will 'oe missed by current and
<br />future Boards of Commissioners,

<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jones, seconded by Commissioner Stanford, and unanimously
<br />adopted, the Blerk was requested to write a letter to Roy ;d. Cole, retiring Prosecutor of the
<br />Orange County Recorders Court, thanking 'Him for his service to Orange County for the past too
<br />(Z) years,
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner McDade, seconded 6y Commissioner Jones, and unanimously adoptedy
<br />G. A. Cannady xas appointed Assistant Coroner for a four (4) year tenure.
<br />The Hoard of Commissioners adjourned and reconvened as a Board of Equalisation and Review,
<br />Mr. E. C. Cheek appeared and requested a reduction in the tax value on his property
<br />located in Bingham formship. 'The County Accountant, Conaaissioner FtcDade and Comnlssionur
<br />Stanford agreed to inspact his property on fled, afternoon, December 3rd.

<br />County Corcnissioners.
