I am in the process of returning to grad <br /> school (MSW program) <br /> Conflict of Interest: <br /> Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br /> Background, education and experience relevant to this board: <br /> 17 years running programs for people with disabilities <br /> -2 of those years as a Program Coordinator with people receiving residential and day support. <br /> - 14 years sitting on internal Standing Committee s (Human Rights Committee) <br /> -6 years (2 full terms) as a chair of a governor appointed State Advisory Committee for Youth <br /> Camp Safety in Maryland <br /> - 15 year caregiver to my first wife who had significant needs and dementia due to a brain <br /> tumor. 6 of those years she required nursing home care <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> My first wife lived in a nursing home for the last 6 years of her life. She passed away 10/11/17 <br /> after a 15 year battle with cancer. Her passing, prompted my move to North Carolina. <br /> I see assisted living as a necessity for people who need significant care, I also have a strong <br /> interest in advocating for people with disabilities. <br /> I feel that this experience will increase my perspective.
