Todd <br /> 24 McGee <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Chair Rich called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 9:00 Convene <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Chair Rich opened the meeting, and the facilitator welcomed the group, introduced <br /> 31 himself, credited the retreat committee, and went through general housekeeping items for the <br /> 32 group. <br /> 33 The facilitator reviewed the meeting plan for the group, which was approved by the <br /> 34 Board without any addenda. <br /> 35 Chair Rich greeted the group by thanking Orange County staff for their participation and <br /> 36 attendance. She also thanked the retreat committee for putting together the meeting plan. <br /> 37 She reminded the group about prior agreements to not use cell phones or laptops during the <br /> 38 meeting. <br /> 39 Bonnie Hammersley reminded the group of staff's role in the meeting, i.e. to act as a <br /> 40 resource and to present some brief information about each meeting topic. She said all <br /> 41 department directors were invited, but not all were able to attend. She discussed the theme for <br /> 42 the day, the rural-urban makeup of Orange County, and alluded to the presentation from Travis <br /> 43 Myren about the different demographics of these areas of Orange County. <br /> 44 Bonnie Hammersley welcomed the two new commissioners by describing a <br /> 45 conversation she had with Commissioner McKee about how much he learned about the urban <br /> 46 parts of Orange County when he was first elected and expressed hope that the icebreaker <br /> 47 would spur the same sort of understanding from the group.
