ai <br />Happy Hill Redevelopment Forsyth County <br />ESI conducted in depth historic research to develop historic contexts for the evaluation of <br />archaeological sites for the redevelopment of the Happy Hill community, Winston-Salem's oldest <br />African American community (Seibel and Russ 2004). Olive-Clinton Transmission Line Project Wayne, Duplin, Sampson <br />counties <br />This project consisted of a Phase I archaeological survey and an architectural survey of an <br />approximately 28-mile long transmission line corridor. Twenty-six archaeological sites and 97 <br />historic architectural properties were recorded during the survey. Three archaeological sites, <br />31 WY466/466, 31 WY470/470, and 31 SP373, were recommended as eligible for listing in the <br />National Register. In order to mitigate the effects of constriction, limited Phase III data recovery <br />investigations were undertaken at the three sites, which documented intact Early Archaic, <br />Middle Archaic, and Middle Woodland components. <br />Client: Progress Energy <br />Jeff Buckner <br />412 S. Wilmington St <br />OH57C <br />Raleigh, NC 27602 <br />US 64 <br />(919) 546-7692 <br />Cherokee County, Month Carolina <br />Between May and July 1999, ESI conducted Phase II archaeological testing and Phase III data <br />recovery for the US 64 project in Cherokee County, North Carolina, for the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation, The project involved historic background and archival research <br />to develop an historic context for site 31CE610**, a nineteenth century tenant house, <br />archaeological excavations at site 31CE610*` (previously assessed as National Register <br />eligible), and testing at unassessed sites 31CE61 and 31CE614 prior to the construction of a <br />four lane divided freeway on new location.
