a <br />Grange C.:ounty <br />Environment ~ Resource C_;onservation <br />306-A Rever~c Road / PO I3ox 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NG 27278 <br />Phone: (919) 245-2590, Fax: (919) 644-3351 <br />The Seven Mile Creek Preserve <br />October 11.2004 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Archaeology Consultants <br />FROM: Tina Moon, ERCD Land Use & Preservation Planner <br />SUBJECT: Request for Proposals <br />Cultural and Archaeological Survey of Fairview Park Property <br />Hillsborough, Orange County, NC <br />Orange County is seeking a qualified and experienced archaeologist(s) to conduct a survey of <br />cultural and archaeological resources within the property planned for Fairview Park, The <br />information will be used for siting future park facilities, and for identifying areas of historic and <br />cultural interest for interpretation. <br />Orange County and the Town of Hillsborough own iwo adjacent tracts (67 acres total), which <br />are being planned far use as Fairview Park. A small portion of the park has already been <br />developed, but an expansion of the park is planned over the next few years.. The site is <br />located just outside Hillsborough's town limits, (but within the Town's extraterritorial <br />jurisdiction) one-third mile from the intersection of lJS 70 Bypass and NC 86, <br />The subject property consists of largely undeveloped land-large portions of which are <br />underlain with remnants of a former town landfill. Other sections of the property feature a <br />mature hardwood forest, small children's playground, baseball field, police substation, and a <br />storm debris storage area.. Orange County owns an adjacent 26 acres that includes the <br />County's Public Works facility. <br />If your firm is interested in performing this work, please deliver or mail your response to the <br />Orange County Purchasing Department, Attn: Pam Jones, Director, 129 East King <br />Street, PO Box 8181 Hillsborough, NC 27278 to be received no later than 5 pm, Friday, <br />November 5, 2004. <br />Please contact ERCD directly if you would like to visit the site in advance of submitting a <br />proposal.
