<br />It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, except the meat inspectors
<br />herein provided 1''or, or other official of Orange County, to Gave in his, their or its possession
<br />any stamp or' brand which may be used for the purpose of imitaiting the official brand hereby
<br />designated by the Orange County Board of Commissioners.
<br />Sectl.on 6. It shall Ue the duty of the inspector or inspectors herein provided for
<br />to thoroughly examine all animals prior to slau;;htering and all carcasses suNmltted for'
<br />inspection by exercising due care and expex•t Judgment to the end that all animals which are
<br />found to be diseased, dirty, decomposed or improperly dressed sha71. 6e excluded from the
<br />market as previously provided for in this ordinance, Zoe inspectors herein designated and
<br />provided for are further authori,xed and empowered and it shall be their duty to condemn or•
<br />reJect cazcasses in the whole or in paz~t when arty condition is observed which renders the meat
<br />un'fi/t or unsuitable for human food.
<br />y Section 7. If any person, firm or corporation shall violate arty provision of any
<br />section of the foregoing ordinance, he, she, they, or the officers of such corporation, shall,
<br />upon cowiction, be adJudged guilty of a misdemeanor.
<br />On motion of Commissioner Walker, duly seconded by Commissioner McDade, and all members
<br />of the Board voting in the affirmative, Dr, Y1, H, Panderbilt of Chapel Hill was appointed the
<br />official Meat Inspector for Orange County. Said ordinance is to be effective on and after
<br />November 3, 1958.
<br />A schedule of fees and other rules and regulations governing said ordinance not incorporated
<br />in the said Heat Inspection Ordinance shall be drarm by M H. Graham, County Attorney? S, E4.
<br />Cattis, County Accountant, and Dr, David Garvin, District Nealth Officer. Tho Hoard requested
<br />that a report on this matter be made at. their next mont[il.y meeting.
<br />On motion of Comm]ssioner 1'lalker, duly seconded by Commissioner StaMOrd, and all members
<br />of the Hoard voting in the aTlis'mative, S. L:. Gattis, County Accountant, nos authorized to
<br />abandon the present method of recording land sales receivable and commence recording these
<br />on the books vrith 100p reserve as recommended by the County Auditors, The W. H. Russ Company of
<br />Raleigh, N, C.
<br />On motion of Covmissioner Walkeq duly seconded by Commiusloner Ray, and all members of the
<br />Hoazd voting in the a!'fis'mative, the County Accountant, was authorized to invest the $152,000.00
<br />proceeds Trom the insurance settlmnent from the Centr'a1 School fire vrlth the Durham Hank and
<br />Trust Compare of Hillsborq, N. C. on a certificate of deposit at the rate of lx$ for a six
<br />month period.
<br />On motion of Commissioner Ray, duly seconded by Commissioner 4cDade, and all members of
<br />the Hoazd voting in the affirmative, the late listing penalty frog the tax account of Dr.
<br />Thomas YI. Farmer, in the amount of S26.d5 was released, due to the circumstances that exist,
<br />in that, Dr. Fazmer acted iA good faith in trying to get his taxes listed before the
<br />expiration date. '
<br />On motion of Commissioner Aay, duly seconded by Commissioner 1'fatker, and atl members oL
<br />the Hoard voting in the effirmative, the late listing nenalty oC Dr. Dermot L•ohr, 202 Yrest
<br />Center Street, Lexington, N. C. Tor poll tax was released but the penalty against his son,
<br />Lloyd D. Lohr was retained.
