I <br /> ve have sat on internal committees in those organizations that help perverse the rights of the we <br /> served. <br /> I also have spent 6 years (2 terms) as the chair of Maryland s Youth Camp Safety Advisory <br /> Committee, a Maryland s governor state appointed committee that advises MDH on the <br /> interpretations and needs of Maryland s Youth Camp Safety regulations. <br /> My first wife lived in a nursing home for the last 6 years of her life. She passed away 10/11/17 <br /> after a 15 year battle with cancer. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> My first wife lived in a nursing home for the last 6 years of her life. Her passing, prompted my move to North Carolina. <br /> I see nursing homes as a necessity for people who need significant care, I also have a strong <br /> interest in advocating for people with disabilities. <br /> The adults who require this support are also at a significantly greater risk of maltreatment or <br /> abuse. I feel that I should do what I can to ensure that people receive good services, free of <br /> exploitation and abuse. <br />
