Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board Update Presentation <br /> The Board received a brief presentation from representatives of the Orange County <br /> Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board and to provide feedback or questions. <br /> Tony Dubois, Orange County ABC Director, said this is his 9t" year coming here, and 4 <br /> of the Board of County Commissioners have served on their board. He reviewed the <br /> information below: <br /> BACKGROUND: The ABC Board provides an annual update to the Board of Commissioners at <br /> the beginning of each calendar year. Keith Bagby, Chair of the Orange County Alcoholic <br /> Beverage Control (ABC) Board, and Tony Dubois, Orange County ABC Executive Director, will <br /> provide a brief presentation on ABC Board activities, operations, and external audit services <br /> update, and will also respond to any questions. <br /> Under North Carolina General Statute 18B-701, the ABC Board is required to distribute its entire <br /> net income after deducting amounts required for law enforcement and education and retaining <br /> proper working capital, to the General Fund of the County, which represents a financial benefit <br /> to the County. <br /> The ABC Contribution to the County's General Fund had been set at $400,000 up through FY <br /> 2016-17. Based on Statewide benchmarking of other ABC Boards' contributions to their <br /> respective governments, the County requested additional funding of$150,000 for FY 2017-18. <br /> The ABC Board approved an increase of$100,000 to the County's General Fund from $400,000 <br /> to $500,000 for both FY 2017-18 and FY 2018-19. Another$35,000 is being provided this year <br /> to fund an additional request, making this year's total $535,000. The ABC Board also set aside <br /> $83,128 to contribute to the Board Retiree Health Care Plan. The Board funded local Alcohol <br /> Law Enforcement agencies at $160,000 and increased the amount available for community <br /> Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation grants for schools and local community organizations to <br /> $244,000.
