Sections 106-735 through 106-744 azid Chapter 15.3A. <br />ARTICLE IH <br />PURPOSE <br />Tluough its plans, ordinances and other programs, it is die expressed policy of Orazige <br />County to conserve, protect and encourage the preservation and improvement of agricultural <br />land within the County boundaries as a critical component of die County's cultural and rural <br />character and its economy by virtue of the production of food, fiber and other products. The <br />purpose of this ordinazrce is to reduce the loss of productive and existhrg farmland by <br />promoting agriculhual values and the general welfare of the County, recognize die existence <br />of important farmlazrds by seeking to minimize risks of nuisance suits that arise fi~om die <br />onset of oilier land uses, encourage pazticipation in voluntary programs to preserve and <br />protect farmland from non-farm development and increase identity and awareness of the <br />agricultural community, and its r°ole in die economic and cultural quality of life for all <br />County residents. <br />ARTICLE IV <br />DEFINITIONS <br />The following are defined for purposes of this ordmance: <br />Board: Orange County Agriculhual Preservation Board. <br />Chair: Chairperson of die Orange County Agriculhual Preservation Board. <br />District: Voluntary Agricultural District as established by this ordinance, <br />Board of Commissioners: Orange County Board of Commissioners. <br />Qualifying Farm: A farm that has met the qualification criteria set out in ?.rticle VII of this <br />ordinance, is certified for die Voluntary Agricultural District Program. <br />
