NCDOT Petition Information <br /> PURPOSE: To make a recommendation to the North Carolina Department of Transportation <br /> (NCDOT), and the North Carolina Board of Transportation (NC BOT), concerning a petition to <br /> add Possum Place in Stoneybrook Subdivision to the State Maintained Secondary Road <br /> System. <br /> BACKGROUND: This request includes a petition for one road addition to the State Maintained <br /> Secondary Road System. The road and its respective length and width are as follows: Possum <br /> Place has a length of 0.07 mile, 18 feet of paved width with 60 feet of right-of-way, with two <br /> homes having entrances onto the road and all adjacent lots on Possum Place fully developed <br /> with access on an adjacent road. <br /> Stoneybrook Subdivision intersects with Fox Run (State Road 2032) to the south, and is <br /> approximately 0.06 mile east of Stoneybrook Road (State Road 2021) in Chapel Hill Township <br /> west of Carrboro (Attachment 1). The single family residential subdivision is located within <br /> Orange County's planning jurisdiction, and was developed and approved subject to the County's <br /> zoning and subdivision regulations. There is no known subdivision violation associated with the <br /> subdivision. <br /> Stoneybrook Subdivision (Map 2) was recorded on October 15, 1974 (Book 23/Page 129) <br /> (Attachment 2). Possum Place was designed to public road standards but has been a private <br /> road in the interim, intended to become a public road when conditions met NCDOT maintenance <br /> responsibility and ownership criteria. The other roads in the subdivision were accepted into the <br /> State Maintained Secondary Road System in 1978. <br /> NCDOT has investigated this request and has submitted a petition to the Board of County <br /> Commissioners (BOCC) for its recommendation (Attachment 3).
