1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: February 5, 2019 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 4-b <br /> SUBJECT: NC Association of Assessing Officers Distinguished Jurisdiction Award <br /> DEPARTMENT: Tax Administration <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Bonnie Hammersley, County Manager, <br /> 919-245-2306 <br /> PURPOSE: To recognize the Orange County Tax Office for its selection as a distinguished <br /> assessment jurisdiction by the North Carolina Association of Assessing Officers. <br /> BACKGROUND: Each year the North Carolina Association of Assessing Officers (NCAAO) <br /> recognizes up to three (3) counties for the Joseph E. Hunt Distinguished Jurisdiction Award. <br /> For the third year in a row, Orange County has been selected for this prestigious award. Per the <br /> NCAAO announcement, the award is presented each year in recognition of a county's <br /> achievement in areas of property tax assessment and/or collection, the implementation of a <br /> project, or endeavors to enhance the overall effectiveness of a county tax department. The <br /> recipient receives prestigious recognition and an award at the annual NCAAO Fall Conference <br /> held in November. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br /> with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board recognize the Orange <br /> County Tax Office for its award selection, including acknowledgement of the plaque received <br /> from NCAAO highlighting the recognition. <br />
