1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: February 5, 2019 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 4-a <br /> SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing the Orange High School Future Farmers of America <br /> (FFA) Senior Livestock Judging Team for Winning State Competition <br /> DEPARTMENT: Community Relations <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Proclamation Recognizing Orange High Todd McGee, Community Relations <br /> School FFA Senior Livestock Judging Director, 245-2302 <br /> Team <br /> PURPOSE: To recognize the Orange County High School Future Farmers of America Senior <br /> Livestock Judging Team for winning the State competition. <br /> BACKGROUND: Orange High School entered a Senior Livestock judging team in the 2018 <br /> N.C. Future Farmers of America (FFA) Association's annual Livestock Evaluation Career <br /> Development Event (CDE), which was held November 27, 2018 at the Hunt Horse Complex at <br /> the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. The team finished first out of the 89 schools and qualified for <br /> the national championship competition, which will be held in October 2019. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County Social Justice Goal impacts <br /> associated with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the <br /> Chair to sign the proclamation recognizing the students and faculty advisor for winning the <br /> competition, representing the community and school and wishing them great success in the <br /> nationwide competition this fall. <br />
