The Emergency Management <br /> Coordinator is expected to carry out assignments without direct supervision or detailed instruction. This <br /> position must be able to use governing policies and regulations, general guidelines, organizational <br /> precedent and experience to guide their work, decisions and actions. Reports to the Director of Emergency <br /> Services. <br /> **This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required.*" <br /> EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br /> A position may not Include all the work examples given, nor does the list include all that may be <br /> assigned. <br /> Coordinate emergency and disaster preparedness activities; perform a wide range of consultative, <br /> coordination, developmental, planning and evaluative responsibilities in the preparation, implementation and <br /> maintenance of emergency plans, response operations, relief, recovery, mitigation and preparedness <br /> programs <br /> Direct the Emergency Management Program by staying informed on current trends, practices, risks, and <br /> vulnerabilities. Researches and establishes emergency management strategies, policies, plans, and <br /> procedures for the Division of Emergency Management and partner agencies involved in the Emergency <br /> Management program <br /> Implement, maintain training, and activation of emergency and disaster plans within Orange County in <br /> support of the Emergency Management Program. <br /> Partner and coordinate with agencies other counties, North Carolina Emergency Management and the <br /> Federal Emergency Management agency through regular meetings, seminars, conferences, and trainings to <br /> ensure plans are coordinated and consistent with state and federal guidance <br /> Direct the county-wide Emergency Coordination Center(ECC) program and ensure Orange County <br /> Emergency Services support is provided for major incidents within Orange County. This includes managing <br /> staff and rotating with other Emergency Service personnel to cover Watch Officer responsibilities. In this <br /> capacity, EM Personnel are responsible for the Emergency Management Division operations on a 24 hour <br /> basis to respond to emergency calls, provide emergency coordination functions for Incident Commanders, <br /> direct the ECC when activated, and activate plans and policies as required <br /> Manage Emergency Services project management for multi-divisional programs and fulfill the roles of the <br /> Emergency Services Director in the absence of the Director or Deputy/Assistant Directors for Continuity of <br />
