Revised -XO\ <br />Objective: <br />•To identify those tasks and corresponding job classifications for which it can be <br />reasonably anticipated that an exposure to blood, body fluids or other potentially <br />infectious materials (OPIM) may occur; To minimize or eliminate the occupational <br />exposure to blood or OPIM and to comply with the OSHA BBP Standard, 29 CFR <br />1910.1030 and the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act (Pub. L. 106-430). <br />Exposure Determination: <br />•All aspects of emergency medical care to medical and or trauma patients are <br />reasonably anticipated to involve exposure to blood, body fluids or other <br />potentially infectious materials. <br />•The following job classifications are reasonably anticipated to involve exposure to <br />blood, body fluids, or other potentially infectious substances in the performance <br />of their duties relating to emergency medical services: <br />o Firefighter <br />o First Responder <br />o EMS Field Supervisor <br />o Emergency Medical Technician <br />o Paramedic <br />o Rescue Team Member <br />o Fire Marshal / Assistant Fire Marshal <br />o Medical Director and Staff <br />o Telecommunicators <br />o Emergency Services Director / Deputy Director <br />o Training Coordinator <br />Implementation: <br />•The Exposure Control Program is applicable to all personnel, career and <br />volunteer that provide emergency medical services through Orange County <br />agencies.
