A Prepared, Coordinated, and Integrated Emergency Services System <br />Twitter @ocncemergency <br />Orange County <br />Emergency Services <br />510 Meadowlands Drive <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />919.245.6100 <br />Policy 21: Peer Review Committee <br />Objective: <br />x To clearly state and define the purpose, function, and structure of the Peer <br />Review Committee. <br />Definition: <br />x The Peer Review Committee is a panel composed of EMS program <br />representatives to be responsible for analyzing patient care data and outcome <br />measures to evaluate the ongoing quality of patient care, system performance, <br />and medical direction within the OCES System. <br />Meeting Schedule: <br />x The OCEMS Peer Review Committee meets quarterly, at UNC Hospitals, in the <br />months of March, June, September, and December, on the second Thursday of <br />the month at 9:00 AM. <br />Function of Committee: <br />x The OCEMS Peer Review Committee is tasked with quality assurance oversight <br />functions. The committee collects, analyzes, and evaluates data from all aspects <br />of the OCES System, including the Emergency Communications Center, the <br />EMS Transportation Division, the various First Responder Programs including <br />law enforcement, and the UNC Hospitals Emergency Department, and makes <br />system recommendations designed to improve patient outcomes, continuing <br />education programs, and the quality of the system. <br />x The committee is also charged with reviewing and supporting the practice <br />standards established by the Director and Medical Director, and with providing <br />suggestions to medical staff for areas of focus in programmatic, educational, and <br />operational aspects of the EMS System <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 79C5D167-B6CA-4E59-B4AC-AA38CC1B20BD
