1.Phase 2 – (AEMT/Intermediate & Paramedic) <br />a.While not required for all components Orange County will accommodate up to 32 <br />shifts with a Paramedic Field Preceptor outside of initial certification requirements <br />to accomplish these goals. <br /> <br />i.The candidate demonstrates competency to care for patients in the <br />field in all settings and is able to medically manage advanced level <br />(AEMT/Intermediate) calls appropriately with confidence requiring no <br />intervention from the field preceptor. <br />ii.The field preceptor will check off the attendant skills and <br />knowledge. <br />iii.Components on the task check off booklet and document the <br />candidate’s ability to demonstrate the Core Competency Criteria. Once <br />all components have been signed off, and the daily precepting forms <br />reflect that candidate has demonstrated all competencies the field <br />preceptor will complete and sign a Phase 2 Release Form. <br />iv.Once a Phase 2 Release Form is completed and signed by all required <br />parties, a candidate will then be required to attend Simulation Lab <br />#2. The candidate will also complete a AEMT/Intermediate protocol <br />test, EKG rhythm test, and Pharmacology test. <br /> <br />b.In the case where the candidate fails the Medication Test the candidate will <br />be given a two week remediation period and then allowed to retest. <br />c.In the case where the candidate fails the field precepting or the Simulation <br />Lab#2, the candidate will be allotted 1 full remediation period that adheres to <br />the same criteria as the original precepting period (32 shifts). <br />d.For those departments that AEMT/Intermediate is the highest level of <br />certification the completion of field precepting and the simulation Lab testing <br />will allow the candidate to sit for Oral boards with members of Medical Direction <br />and Training staff. <br />**It is the discretion of the Medical Direction Staff to be considered for reentry back into <br />the precepting process.** <br /> <br /> <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 79C5D167-B6CA-4E59-B4AC-AA38CC1B20BD
