Revised -XO\ <br />EC 7: Post Exposure Protocols: <br />•Any personnel exposed to potentially infectious material will immediately wash <br />the exposed area with soap and water or saline eyewash (if the eyes are <br />involved) and contact the supervisor. <br />•Any personnel having an occupational communicable disease exposure will <br />immediately report the exposure to his or her supervisor. Needlestick injuries <br />(whether used or not) will be reported to the supervisors and Exposure Control <br />officers immediately. After proper notification to supervisors, call the Needlestick <br />Hotline @ 966-4480 and answer all appropriate questions. <br />•The personnel will fill out an exposure report form immediately following <br />exposures: <br />o Needlestick injury <br />o Break in skin caused by a potentially contaminated object <br />o Splash of blood or other potentially infectious material onto eyes, mucous <br />membranes, or non-intact skin. <br />o Other exposure that the personnel may feel is significant. <br />•The report will include details as requested on the form. <br />•The supervisor will review the exposure report and forward it to the Exposure <br />Control Officer. <br />•If volunteer fire personnel are involved, they should complete the same <br />paperwork as EMS personnel, as well as any internal paperwork required. <br />Copies of this documentation should be forwarded to the on-duty EMS supervisor <br />immediately and Exposure Control Officer within 12 hours. <br />Orange County Emergency Services <br />Exposure Control Policy <br />Standard Operating Procedures <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 79C5D167-B6CA-4E59-B4AC-AA38CC1B20BD
