A staff work group, <br />comprised of representatives from the Town of Chapel Hill, the Town of Carrboro, Orange <br />County, Triangle United Way, Inter-Faith Council, and OPC Mental Health/Orange County <br />Continuum of Care, has been meeting to plan the Roundtable. <br />The Roundtable Discussion on Homelessness is scheduled for Thursday, November 18, 2004, <br />from 8.OOam to 12;OOnoon, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Airport Road <br />in Chapel Hill. The goals are threefold: <br />(1) To educate the community by dispelling the myths and putting a face on the homeless; <br />(2) To develop along-term plan to end homelessness in Orange County; and <br />(3) To encourage personal responsibility by inviting the community to address this issue <br />individually. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The facilitator's fee of $1000 includes nine (g) hours of preparation time <br />plus three (3) hours at the event. The request is for Orange County to pay one-third of this fee. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the requested <br />funding to support this event. <br />
