Rural Character and Farmland Protection Work Group Update <br /> 4 <br /> 5 The Planning Board and two members of the Agricultural Preservation Board <br /> 6 have been talking about what is happening in the rural areas and how to <br /> 7 preserve the farm economy and have rural development that still preserves open <br /> 8 space and environmental resources. The work group has met three or four <br /> 9 times. The group has spent a lot of time on clustering. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Craig Benedict explained the different issues this work group is working on. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Commissioner Gordon asked about the work product of this group. Jay Bryan <br /> 14 said that the goal was to bring a report to the Planning Board recommending a <br /> 15 series of tools to protect rural character and preserve farmland. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 6.
